In an era defined by rapid technological change and uncertainty, innovation practitioners must master both technical and nontechnical skills. This article calls for renewed collaboration between academia and industry to better align education with the realities of innovation, R&D, and technology management. The authors highlight the need to rethink how we teach creativity, problem-solving, and ecosystem thinking—moving beyond rote learning to foster improvisation, adaptability, and lifelong learning. As new tools like generative AI emerge, so must new models for training and upskilling innovation professionals.
