Privacy Policy

IRI respects the privacy of its members and visitors to its website. Any information collected online, is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect online privacy, IRI has implemented the following policy.

What information does IRI collect?

The data IRI collects is used to help us better serve our members. We only collect and store personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide. If our privacy policy changes, we will notify all users by e-mail or a special announcement placed on the website.

General Users. IRI does not collect any personal information from users browsing the website. Only aggregate data such as the number of clicks per page are collected. Aggregate data is only used for internal purposes and does not provide any personal identifying information.

IRI’s Members and Other Customers. In order to gain access to member-only resources, members are asked to register and provide some information. This information is submitted voluntarily. IRI asks users to provide their name, email, company, and address. Similar information may be submitted to IRI through membership applications, conference or seminar registrations, or subscriptions. Additionally, for some e-mails sent through listservs and electronic newsletters, IRI will collect specific information. For those e-mails, IRI will monitor whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes but is not limited to: email address of a user, the date and time of the “-users-” click, and name of the list from which the message was sent. IRI only uses this information to enhance its products and distribution of those products to its members. This information is not sold or distributed in any other manner.   

How does IRI use Data Collected?

IRI uses information voluntarily submitted by members and other customers in the following ways:

IRI Member Services and Products. IRI uses data collected to respond to visitors’ interests, needs and preferences; to improve its own web content; and to develop new products and services. 

Disclosures to Third Parties. IRI makes member contact information available through the IRI Member Directory to other members using its website and to those who register for its conferences. On occasion, IRI may also provide limited data to third parties that offer products and services. This information includes name, title, company, and email address. Members may contact IRI at membership@iriweb.org to express their preferences if they determine later that they do not wish to have the information shared.

Consent to User Personal Data.  When filling out forms online or registering for our events, IRI will store personal data that is given by the user. IRI members and customers may request to have their information removed at any time by contacting IRI at membership@iriweb.org.     

Credit Card Account Information. IRI does not disclose credit card information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, IRI submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate clearinghouse.

How does IRI use Cookies? Cookies are files that contain information created by a web server that can be stored on a user’s hard disk for use either during a particular session or for future use. IRI uses cookies only to facilitate automated activity, review navigation patterns, and store and track passwords.
