A Conversation with Christian Crews

In this RTM issue’s Conversations interview, futurist Christian Crews explains how companies can use corporate foresight to move beyond static “official futures” that don’t serve them well. He emphasizes that senior leaders must be actively involved in co-creating and monitoring scenarios, rather than delegating foresight to a separate function. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience applying foresight to innovation and strategy, Crews demonstrates how well-crafted scenarios enable leaders to challenge entrenched assumptions, sense emerging shifts, and translate multiple plausible futures into concrete strategic choices. He also explores the evolving role of artificial intelligence in foresight, useful for accelerating data collection, but never a substitute for the human judgment, storytelling, and shared reflection required to act decisively under uncertainty.
