When I graduated high school in 1960, I wanted to be an illustrator. But I was hired at an IBM manufacturing plant in my hometown, pushing out the 5081 cards. In time I transitioned into the copy layout department and did a lot of layout work. From there I moved into communications, where I created presentations for all kinds of people in marketing. Since I could draw, I started broadening the presentations to include illustrations.
