Tech executive Judith Spitz has turned her energies toward increasing the representation of women in technology.
I got my PhD in speech and hearing sciences. My first job outside of academia was as a member of technical staff in a Verizon speech technology group that developed speech recognition systems used in customer contact centers. A mentor encouraged me to switch to managing more general software development for telecommunications operations. I worked at Verizon for 30 years, finishing my career there as the chief information officer for Verizon’s Enterprise Business unit and for Global IT Strategy and Planning.
