Corporate entrepreneurship has always been an essential engine of growth and renewal, but its focus has been to drive sustaining innovations in core businesses. CEOs increasingly recognize the need to harness corporate entrepreneurship to catalyze disruptive and transformational innovation, yet research indicates that few are confident they know how to lead this transition.

This IRI Echo CMU research-on-research, pilot study provides a framework to investigate and analyze transformational, horizon 3 innovation from multiple viewpoints including organizational structures, risk models and critical success factors relative to 19 corporate entrepreneurial activities. A dynamic community of 76 IRI members, Echo Strategies and Carnegie Mellon University, Corporate Startup Lab colleagues and collaborators are advising and following this novel study.
