John Miller

John Miller is currently the science and technology advisor to the CEO of TeraOpenScience and is the owner of Valley Innovation Consulting LLC.
After receiving his BS degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and his PhD in Chemical Engineering (Polymer Science), Mr. Miller spent 28 years at the 3M Company in a variety of technical leadership roles across a diverse range of 3M businesses. This included roles as the Global VP of R&D for the Office Supplies Division, the Abrasive Systems Division, and for 3M’s largest business, the Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division. These roles included large-scale product development and commercialization projects, senior leadership talent identification & development, strategic planning, and customer-focused technical service support.
Following his 3M career, Mr. Miller joined Real Industry Inc. in the role of Executive VP of Operations where he provided P&L and operations oversight at key subsidiaries, including for the world’s largest aluminum recycling company. Additionally, he played a key role for assessing operations of multiple acquisition targets for the company.
Most recently, he has been the sole proprietor of Valley Innovation Consulting LLC, providing consulting services helping clients more effectively capitalize on their innovation investments.
