RTM - Innovation and the Coronavirus

We have been living in a time of accelerating disruption, but the disruption caused by the coronavirus is unique in its depth and breadth. In times like these, people are prone to one of two types of faulty thinking:
  • Believing that everything, or almost everything, will return to normal after a period of dislocation; or
  • Believing that all bets are off, that most of our past learning will not be applicable in the new “new normal.”
I don’t think that either of these extremes is true. Things will change, but there are enduring truths about work, technology, and people that will continue to be valid. Established truths are not always common practice, but they do help us to think through change. I can think of four timely established truths.
