Our organization is trying to get a feel for some of the specific sustainability metrics that are governing the way companies approach and set goals for R&D.
3. How does your company measure the contribution a new product innovation makes to society/sustainable development?
- % of tons sold in last 3 years that contain fossil fuel based material replacements
- Subjective assessment: Sustainability score assigned by project team according to a rubric
- % of tons using recycled content, % of tons which are recyclable
- Revenue for “sustainable” NPD projects
- Sustainability score
- By 2025: packaging solutions to be 100% recyclable or reusable, 50% average recycled content across all packaging solutions of which 60% is post-consumer.
- No metrics implemented yet but likely would focus on % containing fossil fuel based materials.
